Village Hall History
The hall has been part of the local community since 1912. For most of that time its regular hirers have included the Parish Council for meetings, the Primary School who use the hall daily for school dinners and activities and also the WI, Guides and, until its recent closure, The Gardening Club. Another long term hirer is the Pre-School who use the hall every weekday morning.
Registered with the Charity Commission back in May 1965, we have a stand-alone plot of land, from the road at the front to the railings at the rear. The hall is a not-for-profit charity organisation, run by a small Committee of volunteers and trustees, including ourselves.
The original constitution states that the hall: “shall be used for meetings, classes and other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation, with the object of improving conditions for the local residents.”That still holds true in today’s terms; that is why the Committee is taking the step to expand the space available and enhance the facilities for the future.
